A self drive holiday versus taking a guided tour in Australia
We have 25 years experience on Australian adventure tours and
self drive and are recognized as the leading agent authority on
both.
The Pro's and Con's of a guided small group adventure tour
Pro's: You don't have to worry about accommodation
Pro's: You don't have to plan
Pro's: You are safer in a guided group
Con's: You are limited to the groups agenda
Con's: You can't stay longer in a location or wait 2 hours to
take that perfect picture
Con's: Sometimes there is an person whom you don't see eye to
eye with (but that's rare we found over 25 years)
The Pro's and Con's of a guided large group of 50 traveller sightseeing
tour
Pro's: You get the tour cheaper
Pro's: You get to meet hopefully 49 like minded new friends
Pro's: You can pick and choose what little groups within the 50
passenger that you feel more comfortable with
Con's: You have less interaction from the driver/guide
Con's: You may find it hard to hear the guide with everyone else
talking over them
Con's: You are limited on time by their itinerary and timeline
The Pro's and Con's of a 4wd car hire and 4wd camper rental
Pro's: You can go off road and stop when ever and where ever you
want
Pro's: You feel safer being higher off the road and more visibility
Pro's: You can experience the great sleep out under a million
stars in the Great Australian Outback
Con's: You have to go thru pickup and drop off procedure
Con's: You didn't read the fine print like the booking company
asked and at the counter you can't go where you want too
Con's: Be careful taking a dirt road gradual bend is different
to that of a standard car and you need and lot areal lot more breaking
distance on the road than a 2wd car on bitumen. Plus animals on
the road and on some remote roads a lot.
The Pro's and Con's of a 2 or 4 to 6 berth motorhome rental, 2 to
4 berth budget campervan hire,
Pro's: There are relatively easy to drive in a forward motion
as you sit higher over the road
Pro's: Stay at Caravan Parks and Tourist Van Parks these are commercial
campgrounds with powered sites. So setup relax and meet the neighbours.
Pro's: You can pull over at any road side stop you want for as
long as you want, stay an extra day when ever you want as the time
is all yours.
Con's: Reversing and parking a tiny bit difficult until you get
used to it.
Con's: The shower compartment on the 2ST can seem real small if
your a large frame person like me.
Con's: A flat tyre is annoying to change we know, if the RV stops
for any reason most folks panic and don't relax and think it through.
But remember most hire companies emergency number is on the key
ring. Check with the pickup depot before you go.
